Ceiling method.
The gallery was finished in a record time of eight months. Its construction is a ferroconcrete configuration of plates and pillars, with the ceiling 80 cm thick, supported with a palisade and internal pillars. An essential element to the realization of this contract was the execution of specialist pillar works, as the main weight is carried on 13 pillars 1800m in diameter, up to 37 m thick and a palisade consisting of 211 pales 620 mm thick, on the structure’s rim.
Due to structure localization, a phase work divide was decided on, the basic criterion being the minimizing of hindrances for the automobile and tram traffic. Groundwork was also coordinated with traffic organization. From a technical standpoint, the execution of the resulting gallery only 80 cm over other structures’ ceilings: the eastern metro tunnel and close to the western tunnel, was a major issue.
