Surface central air conditioning station

Cient: KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. ZG „Rudna” Division

    Technical data:
Total volume of main building – 4,200 m³
    Cooling towers – 10
    Length of pipelines in shaft R-IX – 2 x 1,100 m
    Heat power – 16.7 MW

    Technology:
The air conditioning station building was constructed in steel framework. Pipelines were installed in the shaft by first connecting them in the framework and then lowering the columns into the shaft. Columns were erected on a built-up support structure, and the whole body of works was executed in an operating shaft.

The company, as part of this task, has constructed the main building of a surface central air conditioning station by the R-IX shaft, property of the KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. ZG „Rudna” Division (822 m2 of construction surface) along with entrance roads and squares as well as towers – cooling structures for cooling aggregates and free cooling towers.
PeBeKa has also installed the equipment and station devices.
This air conditioning station is the first of its size in Poland, built on the surface for needs of the mining industry. Its primary function is to cool water down to the temperature of +1,5 °C and transport it to the lower part of the cooling installation in the central air conditioning. Due to its various technical functions, the station building was divided into two parts: the high +6.2 m and the low +3.5m part. The high part houses the machine room, the second contains the pump room, the electric installation, the AKPiR and social space. “Free cooling” devices were installed on ten towers connected to the main building. It is the only structure of its type in the Legnica-Głogów Copper Area.
