Tunnels executed with the NATM technology, using roof bolting, steel lining, shotcrete and final concrete. As a method for fast rail tunnel reinforcement in the river valley area, jet-grouting was adopted.
In Turkey’s capital city of Ankara the company built tunnels for fast city railway. The total length of constructed one-track tunnels was 2,264 m, and two-track – 77 m. During the tunneling, the company was obligated to design and execute parts of the tunnels in the old river valley with many layers of water-bearing gravels and sands. This problem was solved with the use of jet-grouting technique consisting of high-pressure cementation of rock formation around the executed working.
